My Sweet Kids

I’ve been wanting to take Drew’s one year old pictures because I know I have the ability to do just as good a job, if not better, than where we’ve taken him and Audrey for the past year or two. So, I set up my portable ‘studio’ and had a ball with our little guy! We did these letters because we have some very similar from Audrey hanging in our stairway. I plan to frame these and hang them opposite her!

We liked the blue but decided a little more traditional color was in order. This too is my portable studio, but I’ve joked that the floor and baseboards don’t look that different from our house! Here are two of my favorites of Drew.

And one of my sweet girl who is turning 3 in just a month! She’s getting to be more of a girly-girl!! No worries; we’ll take more new 3 year pictures soon!

Cake Smash…Gone WRONG!!

After seeing how well Reed did with his cake smash, we couldn’t wait to try it with Drew. Well, instead of fun, I traumatized my son. He pretty much hated the cake smash, but we had fun trying! He just got so mad when his feet touched the icing! You can watch the progression that took place in just a matter of seconds! We’re not sure what this is about, but it was so funny! In the end, daddy couldn’t take it and called it quits. This will be a story to tell!!!

Reed is One!

Oh my, we had SO much fun yesterday as I got to shoot my very first cake smash! Thank goodness my dear friends Mica and Beau are so easy going as to let me make a mess of their one and only littly guy! Reed was so sweeet and doesn’t have photographer child’s syndrome, meaning he actually looked at me and gave me a ton of sweet smiles!

Love in the Alley

What do you do when you have so many pictures you like that you can’t pick just one? Post a lot of them!

I had so much fun taking pictures of Tim’s sister, Laura, and her fiance, Bobby, today! We picked the alley behind their condo and Bobby wasn’t feeling it at first, but we converted him quickly! They were great models! I showed Laura a few examples of poses I liked, and she made them happen! I wish all photography sessions went this smoothly (and I wish all couples were this happy together)!

By the way, this is the BEST alley in the world! So many textures and different backgrounds! bl1 bl3 bl2 bl4

The Eckert Family

Today I had the privilege of taking some photos of my sister-in-law, brother-in-law, and wonderful niece and nephew! It started out a little sketchy with wet grass and not a lot of smiles, but we figured it out!

They indulged me and let me drag my new big ‘ugly’ chair out into the orchard! The kids didn’t seem to mind that it was ugly (but Tim minds having it in our house)!! We then moved up to the barn for some tractor pictures before we melted in the sun! eckert1

The Croll Family

On Saturday, I shot the Croll family, and we had a blast! We know the Crolls from Monsanto where Kelly works and their kids go to daycare with our kids. In fact, their little C and our Drew are in the same room right now, and we think they are trouble makers together!

They were very flexible and open to suggestions on location so we chose the Botannical Gardens when we remembered there is free admission on Saturday mornings! Tim came with me with the kids, but quickly left us to our own devices! With 2 1/2 year old twin boys and an almost 1 year old, you can imagine that this was a challenging shoot!

Luckily, they did great! We kept their attention for an hour with candy, funny noises and lots of goofy faces. I hope the Croll family is happy with these photos; it was wonderful of them to trust me with this shoot!

Welcome Baby J

As you all know, I shot my good friend Melissa when she was pregnant, and I couldn’t wait to get my hands on her little guy for my first newborn practice shoot. He was a dream to photograph! He slept a lot, let mom feed him and then let ME put him back to sleep! The warm temperatures and noise maker we used probably helped, but I sure like to think I have the newborn touch!

He let me move him and pose him and just kept sleeping. I hope all newborns are this agreeable! 🙂 Baby J is a doll, and I look forward to ‘practicing’ on him for a long time to come!

Bumps Are Beautiful

My good friends S & M are expecting their first little one and I offered (or asked, or begged…) to take some maternity shots for them. They were so kind as to indulge me! They were willing models and we had a wonderful time! Can’t wait to meet their little peanut! Burchette2 Burchette Maternity
